Amethystoglossum
This is a Den that I bought last year just because I thought it was so pretty, never thinking that I could get it to bloom again BUT Yea !!!! I did it!!! and I have 5 more spikes coming at various stages so I should have blooms for several weeks.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

That's so lovely - I especially like the hint of mauve - or should I say amethyst. i guess that's where it gets it's name.
Very nice!

Oh man, Cin! Yours is lovely. I've had one for four years, and it put out such vigorous growth this last season. But alas, it's never bloomed for me...I haven't given up hope, but yours makes me really wish mine would do something!

Pretty and dramatic, I like it! Great photos!
The Dend guys certainly have issues. That is why I suggest Aussie Dends. They are so non-fussy and bloom like clock-work!
Cheers. Hoa.

It's ironic that I read Hoa's post just now....I decided during my orchid rounds this morning that I think you guys need to add me to the 'dends hate me' list!
I have (wait, scratch that..HAD) a couple NOID's and have a pathetically unhappy looking Thongchai 'Kanokporn'. They just don't stay happy. The big NOID that has been hauled to the trash has slowly declined since I purchased it last spring. Leaves rotting, mealies, new growth sparse and unhappy.
So, why is my Dend. spectabile looking so happy? New growth, nice leaves, happy roots....? Is that an 'aussie type'? I'm really not doing anything different to it than I was the others?
Signed...she who is going to stay away from most dends from now on!!!
