Default Two new catts and a vanda

So here are three more examples of "kerry goes shopping and gets carried away" at the RHS Orchid show this weekend.

Catt Bob Elliott (C mossiae x C Angelwalker)
My dad actually bought another of this grex, but the bloom was white with a hint of purple and the scent was much more subtle. My one is stinky! But nice.

The vanda is not actually flowering yet, but has a flower spike - I am really hoping that the journey home coupled with the impromptu hailstorm (!!!!!) whilst I waited at the station for my lift home hasn't put an end to this vanda's time of beauty. Sorry the pictures are so fuzzy, I was standing on the bed and ..... well... I am really bad at taking close ups!

So what with these, and the phals that I bought yesterday, it's a real shame my company doesn't need me to do overtime!

Oh, and Hoa... IT's ALL YOUR FAULT!

Very nice! I must have missed Bob Elliott or I would have probably bought it

Your Vanda spike should be fine, I think. My Ascocenda came all the way from Germany with a very young spike and it's now growing by the hour which I'm sooo thrilled about.

    Hi Kerry,

Oh NOOooooooo, don't blame me on your another downward slide to numerous uncontrollable-obsessive-compulsive-out-on-a-whimp-binge-buying orchid splurges ... hheheheeee ... Yes yes our precious ... those pretty pretty orchids so hard to resist ... hehehee ...

BTW, very nice catts there that you got. I don't see them very often.
Be careful with the vandas. They like lot of light, air, and humidity. Only one person in this forum that I know can flower vandas with windowsill growing (Jmoney, aka Jason), I think. But he does know what he is doing ! But I see that you have it in a pot (a good way to retain more moisture), so it might not be too bad!
    Cheers. Hoa.

Thank you! A very nice french man sold them to me. It was also a choice between the vanda and the catts, or an £85 Phal Leuddemanniana (from a different vendor). Funnnily enough the phal didn't win in this instance.

I will keep the fingers crossed for the vanda... unfortunately it was the only one Tom liked (blast the man.. why he couldn't like something easy). I will probably put it in the dining room with all my fuchsias and the catts might go in the bedroom (although the scent might be a little overpowering), and hope that the combined respiration of about 30 plants helps things along a bit. I had also thought that once it got a little warmer, I might put it outside for hours on end. Although that depends whether we end up with repeat of last year's "drought". i've already told him that he has to spray it loads. I might even see if we can get a little fogger thingy.

I'll look out for Jason's posts and start swotting up on Vandas....
