    Default Prostheca cochleata ... you were right, Pat

    What I thought were keikis growing from the top of the pseudobulb [see post "more orchid weirdness"] was indeed buds. Appears that the spike got stuck down in the sheath and is all twisted. Didn't bother trying to free it -- IME the spikes like that just snap off when one tries that. So one flower opened way down at the crux of the leaves.



    I like the spotting on the column.

    That's a really cool bloom!! I like the patterning too. I agree w/ you- everytime I try to straighten something out, or rearrange the little new growths, something awful always happens! haha...I've been trying to live mine alone more lately; they seem to like to do their own thing!! Nice bloom though, any more on the way?

    the national flower of Belize...I love the fragrance too. Mine is about to bloom on 2 spikes...can't wait.
