    Default Dend crumenatum

This was my nemesis. I have tried to bloom this one for years. Irma coached me with this species and I failed miserably trying to trick it into blooming. It may not have been mature enough. I finally succeeded last fall but being the flowers are short lived, I missed it blooming

Den. crumenatum, is also known as the pigeon orchid. Exactly 9 days after a 10 degree (F) drop in temperature, the plant is in full bloom with the most intensely fragrant white blooms that resemble little doves in flight. Unfortunately, the blooms last only one day.

I love it! It is so perfect looking. It almost looks like an ice sculpture. Congratulations on blooming it.

    Cheers,

Those are spectacular photos Ron! Love the delicate white blossoms against the black background--very classy. I guess since they last such a short time it's good that they bloom out in groups instead of one at a time. The pollinators for this species need to be on their toes! LOL Isn't it strange since so many orchids are so long lasting.

They do resemble doves - very pretty! All the moreso for being so ephemeral.

Absolutely lovely- terrible shame the blooms are so fleeting. Good growing! I know it must've taken a lot of work!!

Thank you for sharing the blooms with us - as they are so difficult it is unlikely I will ever try something like that for a long time!

They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! But then short lived blooms usually are! Thanks for sharing them with us, Judi
