I think the Renantanda Red Blaze might be closer. The Coppertone has pinkish/blue in the lip. The Red Blaze has the yellow that is in my cross. Gosh, I sure wish we could figure out the name of this one. It is so pretty and takes up so much space to be called "NOID".

Lol. You've been to our house. We have the upstairs room! I am only a college teacher, so I don't make enough money to pay you, but you could work for food. And 250 more orchids - no problem. I was thinking that I would ask for grow lights for the garage next Christmas anyway.

    YOU ARE HIRED! heheheee

    Cheers,

Gorgeous renanthera and vanda hybrid! It might have some Ren. storei in it?

    Bruce,
I think your plant might be a cross between V. denisioniana and Renanthera storei. It is a known cross. The flowers have yellow background with red and large spots overlay. The red and large spots might have come from Ren. storei. The yellow background might have come from Vanda denisioniana, aka, your plant might be RENANTANDA Hew Mun!
    Cheers. Hoa.

Oh, Hoa, I was so excited to read your message. I googled the name and found several images, but I think that although similar, mine is a bit different still. Is it possible that mine is a cross of this hybrid and something else?

Take a look at this image. Notice the lip and the differences.

    Hi Bruce,
You are right. I think that we are close but not there yet.

When I first looked at it, the lip and the two lower petals of your flowers certainly are quite different from the Hew Mum. The denisioniana certainly gives you the yellow background like what you have and since we at least have the V in the tag, we certainly should keep that as part of the clue. The two lower petals of your flowers are certainly larger and the spreading angle is wider than many of the renantanda crosses I have seen. So I speculate that the renanthera species parent must have that trait too (kind of like renanthera imschootiana, storei or philippinensis) to accent it in the progenies. Another possibility is a cross between Vanda denisioniana (or a cross containing this species) and the Renanthera philippinensis or the Renanthera (imschootiana x storei) or a Renanthera grex with storei in it. I think that we have to look for other renanthera hybrids (with storei in parentage like Nancy Chandler or Brookie Chandler?) as the possible other parent.

Below are pictures of the philippinensis and the imschootiana x storei. The philippinensis is considered as a variety of the storei.
    Maybe more later. Hoa.

The imschootiana x storei has the right color and the lip has the side walls too. Oh, you are so close!!! Thank you for your help, Hoa. I think it will be great to give this guy his proper name.

    Cheers,
    BD

How about a cross between V. and Rnst. (renanstylis)? Like V. denisioniana and Rnst. Azimah? The Rnst. Azimah has lip and lower petals' posture/size very similar to yours. (or Van. Yip Sum Yah x Rnst. Azimah?)
    Cheers. Hoa.
