    Just wondering if the metal thingie on the left is an interpretation of a nepenthes. Looks wicked if if is.

    Why, yes, it is! Nah, it's just a brass pitcher - I got it a a yard sale for a dollar. I just thought it looked good next to my ship that came in!

    Hey, Tmai - I see you have a ballast/torpedo bottle and a codd bottle as well! Do you collect bottles or just have those few?

    Just those and a worm medicine and poison bottle near the front center of the table. They date from 1875 - 1885. I found them at a wonderful little mom and pop shop on Sanibel Island. They have HUNDREDS of shipwreck bottles, fossils, exotic shells, etc.
    Isn't the codd bottle neat? The carbonation kept the glass ball seal in place and the glass track inside the bottle keeps the ball from busting out your teeth when you drink! Pretty ingenious, it think. The torpedo bottle carried lime or other citrus juice to prevent scurvy on long ocean voyages.
