    Default Rhyncholaelia digbyana

I have had this one for about 8 years. Flowers every year and it has the most delicious, strong fragrance that is lemony, sweet and a little spicy. The plant hangs in south facing window, and likes to dry out completely between watering. The leaves are so thick and rigid they seem like made out of wood. The flowers are very hairy and wild looking. It is a little different than the pictures of digbyana I see in books.
    Enjoy.

I think it was a division when I got it 8 years ago. The person who had it before me grew orchid forever. So,who knows? Probably very old. Interesting thing is that, I don't think it lost a single leaf since I got it.

I've always loved the heavily fringed lip on this one. Too bad the lip doesn't carry through in the hybrids.

    Nicely grown, Ania!

simply Gaugh-geous! I have a couple of plants that look resemble yours(similar leads, leaves and roots) but names don't match. How often do you water/fertilize and how much humidity do you have to supply to keep it happy?

I am not very consistent, but I try to spray it every other morning. I water it heavily every other week. During active growth I water more often and fertilize weakly, weekly . I don't fertilize during the winter. The humidity in my sunroom is usually around 50% or above. I think the high light and letting it dry out is most important to keep it happy.
