Default C. Hawaiian Wedding Song 'Virgin'

It was quite a surprise that the blooms were of decent quality considering that the mother plant was resurrected from near-death just March of this year.

The original plant was a large overgrown (and cramped) plant and all new leads were getting crushed to death.
I divided it into several "smaller" plants and potted them into baskets to give them more room to grow. Such drastic surgery on a large plant usually causes it to skip a blooming season but it looks like these plants are determined to bloom

The first one that opened - colors are still greenish but I hope it get closer to white as it matures. This pseudobulb dropped all but one bud.

A shot of the whole plant, other pseudobulbs are nursing 2-3 buds - I hope they all bloom:

The other divisions are also catching up:

The flower is about 4-5 inches across which is about average for this hybrid. I hope that next season brings in more flowers

This was the mother plant before I acquired it and started rescue efforts:

Wow...what a great job you have done with that one! And what a sweet reward so soon. You lucky dog you. I just hope the big ol' catt out front does the same for me. It was totally overcrowded in a 6 in' pot and now is in 6 sections and growing like mad. I think it's the baskets....they love to have their roots nice and airy without hanging out mid-air (unless there is a pot of water to dip their roots in).

Wonderful, you did a great job!

I have one myself which I only bought a couple of months ago. It's just developing a new growth so I'm keeping my finger crossed for some of those beautiful blooms.
