Default Vanda (Velthuis x Pink River)

Why are Vanda and Phalaenopsis in separate forums? Ah, well.

This guy just opened yesterday. It's a nice semi-terete. Too bad the sepals are so recurved.

EDIT: I realized that the flower had gained some substance since this morning, and I popped the recurved petals back forward. Now it's Supa-Fantastic! Here it is:

Nice and flat, and with a bit of a Dendrobium-style 'chin', which I seem to remember to be characteristic of the terete Vanda, although I may well be totally wrong about that.

That's very lovely! I wish sometimes I could grow Vandas. I think I'd have to move south! I like the darker purple lip very much.
