    Smile C. Summer Spot 'Carmela'

My C. Summer Spot ' Carmela' - I got this in bud a couple weeks ago, so all I can take credit for this go is not killing the buds before they opened. First bloom opened on Sunday, but I don't have a smell yet. Probably still too new. It's interesting how the blooms start out so green and get more pink... I don't think this one will end up being as hot pink as the usual 'Carmela' named ones, but still pretty.

Very nice. I like the softness of the color.

Being a clone, it should be true to form and change to a brighter pink. Post another pic in a few days. Nice one!

My mom got one about 3 weeks before I did from the same vendor and hers is purple on a cream background. She's upset because it's supposed to be a mericlone.. I looked up photos of the same seed cross and found that they probably are Summer Spot, just not necessarily the 'Carmela' version. She did contact the vendor, who basically just said, "Yup. It's a Summer Spot."

*shrug* I still think it's pretty no matter if it's a clone or a cross. But I will definitely post more pictures in a few more days. I can't wait till the scent comes in.... I haven't had a good smelly bloom in a while.

Well, I think it's really pretty regardless (Spots!). Plus it looks like it has an amusingly large "nose" to.

But then again there is one particular type of Stanhopea that looks to me like it has a roast chicken growing in the center!
