    Default Thelychiton speciosa

A sweetly fragranced down under species. It used to be called Dend speciosum. This is definitely not a miniature orchid plant.

Ron, when did the name change? Everyone in my orchid society (In California) still knows it by D. speciosum.

I am not sure when the names changed. Recent research into the taxonomy of the genus Dendrobium in Australia has led to the name changes but they have not yet been universally accepted. David Jones' book - Native Orchids of Australia uses the new nomenclature, but I have been speaking with an Aussie, and he tells me there is controversy over the names in Australia and they are still judging using the former names. So, it would appear that using Dend speciosum is still appropriate. The National Botanical Gardens in Australia is using the new names though???

If you are growing under lights then this one is not for you. The p-bulbs are 12 inches topped by a foot long leaf.
