    hi, my guess is its an old cane and normal, the keikis look ok. maybe you can increase the light i little, those 2 leaves look to dark to me.

    It's looking really good. The old cane will lose it's leaves....normal. You will get your blooms from the new growth as they mature.

    I agree with the above...the old canes will hang around for awhile acting like a battery to store water and nutrients. Losing leaves off old canes is normal.

    Eventually, even the old canes will dry up and die back making room for the new growths.

    How long is a cane supposed to last in these dendrobiums? one or 2 years? how do you get a specimen plant then?

    Probably a couple of years. As you can see, there are several canes coming from your initial cane as these mature, they will produce even more canes and you will have a specimen.

    Cycle of life.... I would agree with Ron nevertheless to say increase light if you want to see the plant bloom.
