    That is how dendrobiums usually grow, nothing unusual. New bulbs emerge from the base of the previous one along a rhizome, as in many other sympodial orchids. What is it potted in? Looks soil-based and probably too wet for dendrobium. Dend roots like to have a lot of air.

    The compost it came with is very fine and not what I would expect for a Dendrobium. I was going to wait until Spring and repot in a bigger bark mix.

    Lol!!!!!!! str8 to the point as always!!!!!!Always takes me triple the paragraphs to get my point across!

    My recent 'improved' success rate with dends (and oncids) ,Mike, was purely due to adhereing to the key element of reducing time dends sit with wet feet ie roots constantly moist. Not good! A quick soak and plenty of air flow to induce media dry out. A simple approach but cost me a few orchids first! Happy growing!
