My Wife and I found this one a couple of weeks ago while hiking a forestry service road in Rabun County, Georgia on vacation. I've been told they're fairly rare this far south. It's the first orchid we've personally "discovered" growing wild.

My lack of experience in growing paphs almost cost me these blooms. When the first bud developed it was tight to the leaf and almost black in color. I thought the bud was dirt and tried to remove it with tweesers. Luckily, I was unsuccessful and the bud was tough.

I wonder if the blooms will get bigger with passing years? I'm quite happy with it though, it's very beautiful! You'll have to excuse the busy background. The flower actually came out better in these than with the black backdrop which I had to hold up with one hand haha

I love the bit that looks like a moustache!
