Wow, I want some of those! At first I thought they were the same ones I saw at Butterfly World, but I guess not, the leaves are different. Will they grow in Florida?

Should grow in Florida, I would think. They are an African lily, a kafir lily if my swiss cheese memory is correct. This one was named for Lady Clive.

Wow! I love both of these. I am so ready for spring to get here. I just got back from my study abroad class to London and visited the beautiful Kew gardens. Looking at my sad, little, gray garden here makes me long for spring all the more.

    Cheers,
    BD

I grow clivias too!... This one is my miniata... I love it so much... She is doing well right now... Note that the worst thing to do with a Clivia is to pot it in a big pot!... All the excess moister kills the roots in a blink of an eye!... I planted mine in some african violet media (why in the world did i do that?!)... In some HUGE pot!... in early winter when I was examining the roots (the first and most important symptom is yellow blotches on leaftips that turn brown)... I saw that the nice firm root system was gone!... I quickly replanted it in expanded clay and now its doing fine... I cant wait to see the flowers in winter again!...

Hm... I wonder why I always have a short flower stalk?!... It had a long one when I purchased it!... I bring the plant inside (heated home) when winter frost is expected... A sudden shock for the plant and it blooms!... But the florets open just between the leaves!...

Mine live in the back garden all year round, strange some bloom winter, others late spring. Mine are mostly the orange ones but my yellow one looks like it has buds peeping through. I bought it as a very small plant and this will be the first time it has flowered. I am like a cat on hot bricks, checking its progress every day when I go down to check each orchid.
