    Default Amaryllis and Shilleriana Bouquet

I rescued a Shilleriana recently that I had to cut several spikes off of (it had two keikeis blooming like crazy) and on an outing through the backyard to check on the progress of the seed pod on the big purple Iris out back, I found a critter had chewed on the flower stem to a huge red Amaryllis. I took this as a sign that I should cut a couple more to adorn the vase I had placed the Shilleriana flowers into. It is so pretty I thought I'd share with you all....I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again, I Love Living In Florida!!! lol I love these huge things even if they don't last long enough.

The phal blooms will probably last for awhile in the vase. The display is very nice! Our Amaryllis not near blooming yet, but our tulips are going wild!

    Cheers,
    BD

A pinch of sugar in warm water keeps my blooms fresh for awhile usually.

Your Amaryllis are beautiful. Mine are sitting on their fat bulbs doing absolutely nothing.

Mine grow in large flower boxes all around the house. Every spring I go around a couple times with my miricle grow thing that goes on the hose. I fertilize everything and a couple weeks later spikes appear. It makes for a colorful yard.
