    Default Orchid Eye Candy

I was in Florida this past week and had a chance to visit a local GH. I enjoy just walking around and looking at what I might be able to do if only I lived somewhere else...then again maybe not.... Anyway, I don't usually purchase from this GH because, IMHO, they are VERY pricy..... That might not stop some of you but $50 and up ain't in my league, but thought some of you might enjoy some pics...forgot to bring my camera so used my wife's point and shoot which I've never used before and, if I don't say they came out pretty good!

Oh those are lovely--and I'm not really even a paph addict. You have great self-control (either that or a spouse with less orchid inclination standing there. )

Well, I must say, it isn't hard for me to resist when you have to shell out $50+ for a plant. I've seen beautiful plants from Hawaii for much less.

there are a few beauties in the batch though...especially with the complexes. Yes maudies can be found at 1/2 that price.

What part of Florida were you in? That place wasn't in Apopka, Florida was it?

No Ron, it was a small GH in Palm City, FL. That's where my mom lives. I found it quite by accident. I get a mailing every month from a grower in Hawaii who sells comples paphs in 2" to 4" pots for about $13 ~ $15. Stuff like P.Peter Pernar x Kayday, P.Anna Szabo x Bill Eilau, P.Maggie Anne x Hamana Chilwin, P.Kerry Anne x (Sharnden x Seacliff)

It's just that I'm too cheap to spend that much and knock it off the first time I "look" at it! That doesn't say I wouldn't just love to have more of these compleses, 'cause I think they are just beautiful!

Now that's a cheerful looking bench; must be paph season! I am also a sucker for the complexes.

$50.00 is cheap for an Orchid in my experience. Since I grow mostly large multiflorals that would be the cost of a young seedling. LOL
