    it could be eating plants and cause damage. I wonder also if it is potentially hazardous in case you touch it, although I doubt it since it is more about not being seen and the more dangerous caterpillars have striking markings and so on.

    There is a caterpillar in Brazil that can be lethal if a person has contact with it. I would probably get rid of it and maybe look for more.
