Beautiful photo Maura. I, too, love magnolias and my neighbor has a stunning tree in his backyard which I get to see from my kitchen window. Makes Spring all the more wonderful. - martha

So glad you like it - I was feeling a bit "iffy" about it, but now I'm satisfied. That is high praise, coming from you, Yew

Martha - I remember a huge old Japanese magnolia that I walked past on my way to and from school when I was little; it was a beautiful harbinger of Spring. I don't remember it being scented, though. Is your neighbor's? The southern magnolias are completely different from those I knew back home - not only are their blossoms snow white and enormous, but they have the most intoxicating scent I've ever smelled - think of gardenias on steroids! We have tons of them all around Atlanta - so Phillip and I have a wonderful few weeks being "The Magnolia Thieves"!

I don't know about the scent I haven't snuck into his backyard to smell them, it would mean crossing two other backyards, possible if I snuck just under the edge of the hillside/cliff that is Prospect Hill that we live on.
