    Default Longwood Gardens Camelias

I think without a doubt the most beautiful flowering shrub is the Camelia. Unfortunately they are not hardy in my area. There are a few winter hardy varieties but their flowers are small single blooms and to me very disappointing compared to the large blooms of the Southern Camelia. Longwood gardens has a lovely collection of them in their Camelia House and Jan/Feb is the peak bloom time for them.

Beautiful Camelias. The flower of the south...just not this far south. They aren't hardy here either Bill. We can grow a few old varieties but they don't like our heat.
