    Hi Gin,

Be very carefull with these. Down here while yes they are pretty they are more of a weed at least if you don't control them well. Our mahogany trees are filled with it and it's actually killing them. We've started the removal of it but 2-3 inch thorns make it a bit of a hazardous job... just a bit.

They grow wild in So Cal too, if they get away from you. I have to trim mine every year. But I have it trained to go up and the over my greenhouse window, which give me good shade for the plants inside and a lovely purple and green view outside.

Well folks, they would not have a prayer outside in Mo. . When I lived in So. Ca. I had a huge one that went onto the guest house roof . No chance of that here .

Nice Bougainvillaea. Even in the tropics if you keep them in pots they will stay compact. Just like a bonsai. By the way, Gin, have you seen a bonsai bougainvillaea? They are very neat.
