    smurphr,
I would think that Gardenias would thrive in Taipei. I wish we had all the wild orchids you have here.

I didn't know you could just stick it in the ground and it would grow from there ? You did a really good job . Did you fertilize and all that ? Or did you just let nature take it's course ?

    Thanks Nicole
I should, but never have fertilized it, or the other 3 I have. They would probably produce bigger better blooms, but than again nature does ok.

I love the fragrance of gardenias. Reminds me of a gardenia bush/tree at my grandmother's home. Every time I smell that fragrance I am transported back to being a kid an playing in my grandparents yard.

    cheers,
    BD

You get more southern than gardenias and as Shane said...sweet olive. Both have amazing fragrances.

Maybe I should try your method . Mine are ok and they bloom and all they just don't look like yours but I do know that's mostly cause I have to keep them in pots and not open earth where they can just stretch out and do their own thing . I enjoyed seeing yours , they are so beautiful and lush . They give me hope for the future when I can put all my, (well most), of my babies into the ground and let them go free.
