It is supposed to be a double flower with the second being about half the size of the outer. As you can see, there is no inner/second. Accurately capturing the color was close to an epic fail -- it is a fairly dark purple with white picotee. (The inner flower, had there been one, would have been the same way.

This shot shows the picotee fairly well:

While this one was as close to color accurate as I could get ... still off:

And this is what happened when just having fun while trying to do color correction (perhaps Kelly would like this ... )

I love morning glories. There is a huge wall just full of blooms that I pass walking to work every morning. This one is really nice even though it isn't what you expected...that last pic! I was afraid someone had slipped me some acid!

It is a beautiful bloom, my friend. Maybe not what you expected, but still beautiful. I really like it. Thanks for sharing!

Very pretty color. Is this the first bloom to open? Many time plants that have been bred to produce novelty type flowers such as this will produce first blooms similar to the original parent. If it is a first bloom perhaps subsequent blooms will be what you hoped for. If they are please post pictures. I would advise you not to save seed from this plant if it does produce the desired blooms. In all likely hood the plants resulting from the seed will be a more common variety of the morning glory. It still is a pretty novelty flower. Thanks for sharing.

I used too grow these when I just started getting into gardening as a kid, now I very rarely see them sold in the seed packets like back in the 'old' days. Would love to have them back, this one is a stunner even if it isn't what you wanted.

    Like the intense color!

Morning glory grows as weed here in Houston. Several years ago, it just showed up in my back yarn, then spread everywhere in my flower pots. First, I thougt it was pretty and it attractec hummingbirds, then, I realized that it would take over every tree trunk and pot if I let it. So I am now always pulling seedlings off my pots.
