Default Deal of The Day !

As some of you know I had to take a break away from growing for awhile. While at a home improvement store picking up some inscecticides. I walk past the area where they had the clay pots. Much to my surprise they had 4" orchids pot with a yellow shelf tag at 50% off. They only had ten instock. So I took all ten to the cashier and told him that I wanted to see what price would ring up. A penny for each pot. Shoot you can't even buy a gum ball for a penny any more. So of course I had to stop at another location to see if I could find more. The tag was gone and no inventory. I asked a cleck about the $.01 charge. He was telling me that once the yellow tag goes on the shelf, after two weeks the price drops down to $.01 until all are sold. After three weeks the items are thrown into the TRASH. I don't understand why they couldn't donate these items to a charity for a Tax write off ? Scratching My Head, Rich

Interesting. Thank you Rich. I must look out for them during my visit to Columbus mid-year. Cannot carry back much though.

Yes, I keep my eyes open while at the big chain home improvement stores. Before I actually started collecting orchids, once, I found a shopping basket that had multiple Phals on clearance at 75% off because they had lost their blooms. They had ID tags, and I was able to buy four at $3 each. They are doing very well, healthy, and I am eager to see what the blooms look like.

Too bad you aren't closer, Rich. A friend of mine is getting rid of all his clay pots -- he'd just give them to you outright. Good deal though.
