I only went to the farmer's market to buy veggies, really...
But wound up coming back w/ some perennials I had not seen before. Couple people reassured me that they won't become invasive.
The white ones are dwarf, double balloon flowers. [sorry don't know the real name] and the red are Lychnis.
They're on the balconey 'til I have time to get to my parents' place upstate to plant them.

I used to have purple balloon flowers at my old house - I love these guys! Nice acquisition, Pavel!

Your Balloon Flower is a Platycodon It is deep rooted and takes 2-3 years to become established. They are slow growers and are among the last to appear in the spring. Enjoy !!

I don't think I've seen Lychnis before. And it's a perennial ... wonder if it can tolerate the growing conditions here in So. Cal.

Lychnis are hardy to zone 10 and will tolerate various soils. Some are not as long lived as the commonly know Maltese Cross but will survive several years before the need to replace them arises. They come in white, pink and red.
