Diane, is yu mak' orchid happy, stick be in hebin!
very nice color!
I would like some sticks too. The gardens were the Marie Selby Gardens in Sarasota. Did you root them in soil or vermiculite?
Cin, I just put the sticks in half a plastic two liter pepsi bottle in plain water. I only change the water every several days or so to keep the skeeters from breeding . Never tried superthrive in the water but I think I will next time. Most of the cuttings are about 12 -18 inches long, but I have rooted smaller ones - they need part of the woody part of the stem to root. Leave them outside in part sun or shade, or in the garage. The roots begin to develop after a couple of weeks. Then I dip them in powder root hormone and stick them in dirt in a pot. Really, that's all. I try to leave 2 - 4 leaves on each stick but rooted many without any leaves at all.
Are you willing to part with some cuttings? I will pay for the shipping.
Hi Cin, be glad to send you some cuttings; some of my plants have some well developed stems now that should root easily. I'm curious to see if they do as well for you as they do for me. Do you want both flowers? Just PM me with the ship to address.
Just an ordinary hibiscus bloom, but such a beauty. Enjoy.
It's kind of odd. I got the yellow and a pink one at the same time. (Yes, Julie, I was a cutting thief in the night!) from the same place in the Keys. The yellow beauty has bloomed it's hiney off but I haven't had a pink bloom in two years. Both plants are treated the same and grow right next to each other. Maybe the pink one is just being stubborn? Any suggestions welcome!
Nice color on that one, Tami! I haven't seen a yellow before. And trust me, I've learned not to ask where you've gotten your plants!
The ones you asked me about the other day are doing well and right along where you thought they'd be!
