    Default My new plants!

Today was my society's tenth annual orchid auction. I came away with a few really cool wins. Here is what I got:

Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica in 10" pot with 8 spikes!!!
Vanda Princess Blue x Ascda. Malibu Aristocrat
    Pescatorea dayana
    Nak. Rainbow Gem
    Phrag. warscewiczianum x self
(all blooming size or previously bloomed!!)

I also got to see Gin and her orchid buddy Doug. She brought us a truck full of bromeliads. NO KIDDING. She filled the back of my 4-Runner up with bromeliads. All different and wonderful!

I will post photos of everything as soon as I get time to take some!

    Cheers!
    BD

Eight spikes on your hiero?! That's huge! I'm raising a little baby one and rejoicing at each millimeter of growth. Sounds like a real haul BD. Weren't you just telling you about running out of space? LOL

Gin sounds like a world class enabler--now that's the kind of person to know!

    Yes--pictures!

I did get a rush of adrenaline over the Phal heiro too, but then when I saw all of the take were blooming sized I just started drooling. Nice haul, Bruce!

LOL - Gin is...well, more a plant queen. Definitely an enabler. No, make that a pusher. A car load, you say? Hmm...sounds like she's making room for something...

I am running out of space, but I figure I can grow the broms under the benches in the GH during the cold months and then on the deck outside during the rest of the year. (Good to be creative when raising orchids. At least I am not living in my car yet like McJulie...heheheheh)

And Gin is a world class enabler and about as fun as a person can be. Last year at the auction, she had a cold and about a week later, Louis got sick and then I got sick. We of course said Gin gave us that too! LOL. SO, this year, when she walks into the room and we see each other, I run over to give her a huge hug and just as I get to her, she gets this serious look on her face and then begins 'coughing' in my direction! The serious look turns into this huge, wonderful smile and we laugh into a hug! It was so good to see her!!

Oh, I tried, but Gin out bid me! We both wanted some of the same orchids. We were polite and took turns. I just love her!

From the size of the Broms, she should have a ton of room for new orchids. She grows plants so well! Everything she has gifited to us is amazingly well grown. One of the broms is about to bloom again too!

    Cheers!

8 spikes! Unbelievable. I googled to see a picture of it. It is beautiful and I am looking forward with great anticipation to seeing a picture of it in full bloom. I also checked out the other three. Beautiful additions to your collection.

    Very nice haul BD !
I,m jealous as my Phal heiroglyphica has just put out it's first spike with just the single flower
They seem to need to be pretty big to bloom !
