    Default new toy, old herps

Just got myself a new digital slr. Thought I would try it out on a few of the house mates. The first you've seen before, a six foot corn snake. The second a female Childrens Python, fully grown at 3 feet. Third is one of my shoal of rainbowfish. Enjoy

I love the color on your corn, Steve!

I know you said the python is full grown, but will she continue to get longer throughout her lifespan as some herps do? What is her temperment like?

So what sort of dig slr did you get?

She hasn't grown over the past four or five years (she is sixteen) and her temprement is great. You just have to watch you don't handle any other herps before her as they are reptile eaters. I did that once and she latched on to my little finger. Hurt like hell. I weaned her onto mice but that instinct is still there.
I got a Canon 400D. I think they're branded as Canon Rebel TX in the US ?

Wow. I didn't realize any of the pythons were specialized as such. Guess I just assumed they were either warm-blooded prey eaters or equal opportunity predators.

I hear ya. Had a similar event happen to me. My pueblan milksnake is, by nature, a herp eater -- more specifically a snake eater [though like your python, she has been trained/conditioned to take pinkies and fuzzies]. One day after cleaning out Peanut's domicile, I immediately went over to clean Maquerade's. Didn't stop to wash my hands. Well between being feeding time and my hand smelling like gecko, she latched onto a finger. Snakes may not have the most impressive bite strength, but those backward pointing teeth sure do grip! That was the one and only time she's ever bitten anyone. Entirely my fault.

Very pretty all, but the stories of you two guys being bitten makes my skin crawl. LOL!
