Well, within a year I will at least know if it's viable and establishing itself. It doesn't have to be fully grown to share one with you! Both great. Their chids will be definitely gorgeous! We may trade one day... by the end of the century...LOL
*Is so upset* I absolutely cannot stand when someone ships an item via USPS...I live in the same state I ordered my flask from and it SHOULD have been here by today. But no...now it's in New York!! I have no idea what kind of damage my plants will have by the time that flask gets here. They were sent out Monday...I am really worried!!
*is totally bummed right now*
Sorry to hear that... Don't worry they will be fine- they are still in flask. Just be ready to deflask as soon as you get them.!
I am worried the agar will scramble in the flask and burn the plants like the grower said it could during shipment. The longer they stay in there the greater chance of burn or contamination.
If they are in NY they might not get back here for days...and the weekend is coming up.
Thanks for the encouragment though Margo...I was just really looking forward to planting up those little guys today.Sorry to hear that... Don't worry they will be fine- they are still in flask . Just be ready to deflask as soon as you get them.!
I hope they were packed well, but I really don't think you should worry that much yet. How far North do you live? We may have a way of avoiding USPS?! Hate to say that (I don't even think I should), but I am still waiting for a book that I ordered on the 8 of may, but I did receive orchids for only two days... BTW, they are not really good with updating their traking info (if that sounds a little encouraging.)
if they are in NY, they might be on the way to my house, LOL.
When I deflask I plant multiple plants in one 4" pot = community pot = compot
Depending on the size of the flask, there could be many 4" compots produced from the flask. There are times I get flasks and leave the flasks longer for the seedlings to mature more...I leave them in bright shade, no sun!
This is really annoying that your flask went to NY but I bet the seedlings will be ok.
I got my flask in the dead of winter during a snow storm, freezing temperatures and the seedlings were fine,
the agar was a little all over the place but it was more solid and less "splatter-able" than I thought it would be,
I deflasked right away and the minor agar burns didn't kill the seedlings in the long run ...
I thought it should make some really nice yellow blooms w/ fragrance!Or my house, Ron, looks like a lovely cross ...
Thanks, I was just thinking if they don't get it here soon we have a long weekend coming up because of Memorial Day. If they aren't here by Saturday then they won't be delivering again till Tuesday...that would mean over a week in shipping. This is really annoying that your flask went to NY but I bet the seedlings will be ok.
Shann, you will have them tomorrow! I have a feeling!!!
