I don't do any preparation for deflasking. They go directly from flask to compot. I do soak them in warm water when I remove them to help remove agar from the roots. I try to gently separate them and sort by size. When first potted up I like to keep them in a fish tank which helps a bit with the humidity. I only partially cover the top. I run my plastic pots through the dishwasher. I place a cup of bleach on the bottom rack that gets splashed into the cycles as they run. I hope this helps.
