It's is easy to sow orchid seeds and fun to watch them growing. Exactly, the day last month I sowed my seed and now there are a lot of protocorm. Share information about homemake seed sowing, hope may help you:
- Orchid: Phalaenopsis, dry seed.
- Media: Phytotech Knudson Modified medium
- Equipments & chemicals: an autoclave, baby food bottles, pickle jars, a 24" lamp, 10% Clorox, dist. water, 91% alcohol, plastic box.
- Procedures: Prepare medium, Clean plastic box with alcohol, seeds are dip in Clorox for 15 minutes, raise with dist. water 3 times, transfer into baby food bottles. All operations are performed in plastic box.
- Lighting: 16 hours/day.

Some pictures of protocorms.

Looks great. I just don't think I have the patience to wait 3 - 5 years for a bloom...

Hey,
I just flasked some paph belletum and paph concolor seeds. The only clorax I had was scented and after 15 mins the seeds went from brown to yellow. Do you think they are ok? I know these seeds take a while to germinate.

Hi Smartie2000,
I think it's ok Smartie2000. Clorox decolors seeds, Clorox changes my seed from brow to a little bit light yellow too. My Clorox is scented too, I am using 10% Clorox (many people use 10%, dillute 1:10 Clorox); what is yours? I read in some researches it takes 4 - 6 weeks to produce protocorm.
Hi Diane, Cin,
We (orchid propagation people) are here to server you. We mass produce orchids so they are cheap for you to enjoy; many orchids cost hundred dollars 10 years ago now only few bucks. We protect endange orchid and produce new species, hybrid. Don't worry about time, just send to me your favorite orchid seeds and after a year or two I will send back to you young orchids ready to bloom next season for free. Cheer.

Be careful what you offer - you may end up with more seeds than you can handle!! Seriously, thank you for a generous offer!!
