    Ahhh,
They all went brown, yellow, or grey. Nothing but fungus in them. Oh well.

Yes, but it's not nearly as challenging! Enquiring minds want to know if they can do it on their own!!

I found out why mine went bad. The jars were not air tight. Next time I wont be cheap and spend the extra dough and get good flasking jars.

If you live in a developing country you may try a homemade medium otherwise use commercial medium. You may use both commercial and homemade medium if you want to challenge. Peroxide is good for Phal. seed sowing. I try both peroxide and clorox, no problem for sterilization both seed sowing and shoot propagation. I use different kind of jars: baby food jars, cucumber jars, coffe bottles.., all are good for sterilization and propagation. A food company is better to file bankcruptcy if their jars are not air tight unless their jars are too old or damage.
Some things need to remember: Never use all seeds at a time, prepare medium at least a week a head to see sterilization is ok or not.

Some people are breeding just for fun, and home making medium is just that much more fun

That is the problem of many seed sowing beginers. They found a homemade formula on the internet, try and think they have fun with it. Not fun at all, after a month they found that their seeds are gone. After three months, they found that all their protocorms turn white. A friend of mine, try and try again and again for 6 months and finally he found out that his seeds are not viable. Most of them burn their hands and quit. As I said, try commercial medium first so you have a lot of chance to succeed. It will encourage you to go on. You can try both commercial and homemade medium at the same time so you can test your homemade medium. After you know your homemade media is good you can add honey, banaba, coconut, corn, potato, papaya, hormone NAA, BAP, ... whatever you want in your medium. This way gives you a lot of fun. I did not tell don't try homemade media. I only tell you do it smart. Smile.

Hey Terminator, you harvested your pod at the mature stage (not green). Roughly how long did that take...6 months? How are your flasks doing?

    Hi Gerneveyn,
Sorry for late reply. I am traveling to an orchid paradise, Vietnam. Depend on orchid. Phalaenopsis takes 6 month to be mature (not green), Den. takes about a year. You can google for "seed mature" on the internet.
