Depending on the genera it may not be too strong for them.Really the only way is to find out the 'foot candles/Lux' that they require and then get a light meter to measure the light at the given distance .If the seeds are from the Odontoglossum alliance they require 280-305 foot candles at 17.5 inches

They're phal seeds about a foot or so away from the light.

I am about to flask my first seeds. It is dry seed and I will have enough to do about four or five flasks of each of these two: Neofinetia and Cattleya intermedia (don't know what the species of Neo. is). I am unsure on the lighting. I have three photography lights which are 220-240V 5400K 35W 50/60Hz. Does that mean anything to anyone?? Will they work?? I understand that the full spectrum of light is not necessary. Any comments, questions or quirky clarifications warmly welcomed.
