Welcome. Without pictures I'm afraid we don't even know what orchids they are and can't offer any useful advice.

yes, unfortunatly, there are over 25,000 species and almost as many genera. An orchid could be a Ada or a Zygopetalum. I would suspect you have a phal, but pics would be handy

And welcome! where are you situated?

I am stationed at Fort Campbell KY and well I found out by seraching that they will die in about four days so I did the next best thing and went and bought me a healthy orchid and will keep it forever.

Way to go! Sounds like your husband ordered three sprays, rather than a plant (or the order was mixed up). What did you get for your new plant?

i after reading again, i understand you got three sprays (as cin said) and unfortunatly, the will not grow new roots. but enjoy them while you can! and glad to hear you went out and got you a new orchid......If the sprays are cymbidiums, they should last for weeks upon weeks! i dont know of any orchid flowers that are grown for the cutflower trade that only last a few days....i should know as i am studying floristry!

How kind of your husband to think of you so nicely. What a good idea to buy another orchid that you can nurture and grow. Let us know what kind you got, and we can help you with it so you can show him what you've been up to while he was deployed.
