    Question SPIKES

I dont know if this has already been asked before, but I'm just wondering, I bought a Vanda and an Arachnis (spider looking orchid). These have two spikes. My question is, is it safe to say that the next time it blooms again, it will also have 2 spikes... And on the other hand, is there a possibility that my other orchids will produce two spikes too???...

    Thanks in advance.

Not necessarily... there is a yes and a no to your answer.

Your Vanda and Arachnis MAY bloom two spikes next time, or even more if you give it good conditions and care.

Another factor is the amount of growths. If you had a single growth Arachnis flos-aeris, and someone else had a multi-growth Arachnis flos-aeris, chances are the other person will have more spikes, as the plant has multiple growths. This usually means the plant is more mature, and the plant has more chances to send out spikes on other growths.

In some cases, it depends solely on maturity. If one person was to have a 7 year old Pleurothallis gelida, the plant may have one spike per mature growth, and maybe 20 or so flowers. Another person with a 15 year old Pleuro. gelida may have 6+ spikes per mature growth, and 70+ flowers per spike...

    Hope this made sense...

    Well that makes sense.

    1. Number of Growth
    2. Good Conditions
    lastly.. Maturity...

    Hope I can maintain that.

    Thanks a lot Mahon!
