i know....deflasking is scary to me too, but i figure its worth trying (theyre just plants, right? ). persistences info in his reply to me (here) and this little flash tutorial really helped me out -- de-mystified the entire process a bit.

    can you smell the enabling?

I get a bit color obssessed myself. I am looking for the perfect green flower. Maybe a Cymbidium.... I'm all about spots and stripes too , as long as the flowers presentation isn't so you cannot distingish one flower from another.

Yellow Neos, that should be interesting. I'd have to look up a papilo, haven't heard of that (but I may have seen one)

sorry, traci. i should have said psychopsis. theyre all yellow butterfly orchids! im very very very excited. im leaving for a mini-vacation in a week, so i dont want to deflask until i get back....im one of those that watches her plants everyday (esp. new acquisitions) to see whats going on. so something as monumental as de-flasking will have to wait a couple more weeks. this way i can check in on them in the initial stages to make sure nothing goes wrong.

Looks like Dad did a great job....I would go with a coated wire because chicken wire will rust and need replacing sooner..just a thought
