    Default new growth?

Hi Everyone. I bought this ludisia about a month ago and since then it has flowered. I noticed this growth on the side of the pot and at the time I thought it was a root but it has got bigger. I was wondering if it is a new growth as it has the same speckles on it and is furry like the spike of the original plant? I'm also concerned if it is a new growth as the original plant grows up in a curve directly above the new part. Can anyone shed any light on this or offer advice about what to do or expect?

    Thank you
