John I like both cultivars. Do you recall my posting mine earlier this year? It has such nice form and the alternating contrast of the pure white and the olive green was stunning, IMHO

I am pretty confident that yours is Epc Siam Jade... You may wish to label it Epc. aff. Siam Jade, indicating that it is suspected to be Siam Jade

Here is my clone...the peloric one

Once you've had a few post back and forth and all the experienced members of the forum agree on the name of a plant. Is it considered OK to write up a tag and assume that the information you were given is correct? Or should you leave it tagless and keep in the back of your mind it "may be" this type?

Unless one is positive, it should really not be named though one can of course write down the name it is suspected to be. The problem is that there are sooooooooooo many similar looking hybrids out there, that getting a positive idea can be difficult to impossible.

Doodlekitty, if you happen to know from whom you got the plant, try contacting the grower and perhaps they will know what it is

I was taught you don't tag it. Lick your wounds and move on. But, I'm learning from many areas of the board that I was taught very conservative and overly cautious.

I *feel* that it is okay to tag your plant for your own knowledge. If you are not growing to cross or enter into judging, then why would it hurt if you are at least 95% sure what you have? I would never enter a noid into judging or cross it with something, but having an idea of the name keeps me from buying another one 'just like it' (well, most of the time... sometimes I just give away the noid, but then I remove the 'suspected name tag' (I use a red tag for these) and then put in a tag that says NOID from Bruce.)

    Cheers,
    BD

I'm going to tag it just for my own info. I'm definitely not entering any contests. I'm just trying to educate myself on "what's what".

    Thanks guys!

I'd simply label it as: Epc.
