Effects of music on plants - documented experiment.
Here is some interesting information about a detailed experiment on the effects of music on plants.
Experiment Documentation
Interestingly enough, the experiment results seem to imply that the plants do not distinguish between pleasing music or jarring noise. Sound is sound and it interprets it at the soundwave level, unlike our sentient brains that attempt to rationalize music or noise. It is the intensity (volume) of the sound that atlers the result, and not the perceived quality of the music.
So in summary: My noisy exhaust fan and HAFs are music to my orchids' ears

The only music my orchids hear is me nagging at them... "when are ya going to BLOOM?"

Interesting article though I do wonder how they procured "genetically identical seeds". As seeds are the result of the fusion of gametes and that mutations and errors in transcription are always possible, it seems a bit of a stretch to assume identical genetics.
That the waves "aid" the transport of water and minerals" is also a bit of a supposition at this point, IMO, -- other factors could account for the increased longevity of the buds and blossums. As a source of 'proof' I think it is rather weak. Also I wonder if they used the same hybrid/clone of orchid to further minimize other influences....
All in all though, a very interesting set of experiments!
