Yea! Spike to the right, root to the left! (stuck in the middle with you....oops, showing my age). With a name like Queen Beer how could you go wrong?
I agree with Becky about the paph; it would probably feel better if you cleaned it up a bit. Good luck with it.
PS we love the stubs and roots. The anticipation is the really exciting part.

It might not be that stressed (stress spike) since the top 3 leaves have perked up now and are nice and strong again. I'm hoping it was just adjusting to the S/H move. It's about an 1" long now.

Again, the leaf and the spike are both growing nicely. Time to purchase a black cloth for pictures

Get the plant stand either way! If it is a spike, then it should have a rather flat pointy "head". Also, spikes tend to be less green than new roots, especially in phals with reddish stem (doritis traits) like yours. Are your summers that cool to initiate spiking on phals? Mine now are growing happily new leaves and roots, and the spiking season is wayyy into October, when the temps finally get 20-25C.

Time for another update. I'm a little worried though since the bud don't seem to swell anymore (for about 4 days now). So worried that they'll blast...

The coloring of the buds does look like a blast is coming. Most of the buds on Queen Beer start out dark and remain dark until they open. Yours are magenta colored and not expanding. Does the exterior of the buds look like orange peel?

They look normal and are the same color the unopened ones were when I bought the plant last year; they just aren't swelling anymore. It might have something to do with the move to bark instead of S/H but I'd rather have the plant than the bloom at this point in time that's why I moved it to fine fir bark.

I thought they would never open but in the last two days the biggest bud swelled and opened. It's not completely open but yes this is my first re-bloom.
