I wasn't talking about your vanda either.
When I suggested you cut off the bad buds on YOUR vanda, it was to save the plant from further infection in case you were keeping it.
Good luck on the Neo. $25 for a blooming size is a good price. Fully grown plants are small and compact by nature. Fuchs is apparently not as pricey as I remember him being.
About repotting the vanda even if the old basket gets nasty,
If the old basket is starting to rot or something, soak the basket, pull the roots off as carefully as possible, doing as little damage as possible.You can't unstick the roots from the wood without seriously damaging them.
