Default Repotted my Aliceara

Well, I was nervous about it but I finally did it! I repotted my Aliceara, Pacific Nova Butter Bud. The roots were totally packed around the old medium like a brick! I took BD's advise and soaked her in a pot of water for about 20 minutes. It still took me about 1-1/2 hours to get all the old medium out!

Nice job, it certainly looks happy in its new home. It has a very healthy root system.

You should see some good new growth in the next year.

looks like you did a great job! The first one is always the hardest. I usually soak and then use the vegetable sprayer or a hose to help with getting the medium out. With 500+ chids in my collection, I now consider myself an expert potter, LOL. I can go through a tray of plants in no time at all and have them repotted. The trick is to have everything ready, mix made, new pots lined up, a container for old medium and away I go. Paphs are the easiest. Oncids the worst. I have mounted many which means no repotting, Yeah!

I always mark the back of the tag with a P- and date, (potting date, P-8.8 indicates to me that I last repotted Aug of 2008)
