Thumbs up OrchidWiz Encyclopedia 30% Discount - limited time offer

I have sent everyone an email alerting you to this news, but thought I should post a message here in the forum as well. This is actually pretty exciting for our community. Alex Maximiano from OrchidWiz.com contacted
me a couple of weeks ago and negotiated an offer for our community which I could not refuse. He is offering our members and friends a 30% discount on a new purchase of OrchidWiz Encyclopedia 5.02. This is the December 2008 version, the latest available.

To get the discount, visit the OrchidWiz website and enter promotion code “ORCHIDTALK” during your checkout which discounts the price (- $77.70 off the normal price of $259.00) to $181.30. This promotion is an OrchidTalk exclusive and the lowest price available anywhere at this time.
    Shipping adds $5 U.S., $7.50 Canada , $11 other countries.

This is a limited time offer good from December 31 [Eastern Standard Time] through January 7, 2009 [E.S.T.]. For each purchase made using the "ORCHIDTALK" code, Alex has agreed to donate a part of the sale back to the OrchidTalk forum!

If you have been thinking about purchasing this amazing software, now is the time. OrchidWiz not only gives you the world's most comprehensive resource for information on orchids, buying the software at a 30% discount by using the "ORCHIDTALK" promotion code benefits our forum community. Tell your family, friends, & orchid society about this great offer: spread the word!

"OrchidWiz Encyclopedia contains genealogy charts and detailed information on 136,000 hybrids and more than 26,000 species; over 30,000 digital photos; thousands of habitat temperature, precipitation and sunlight charts; and thousands of seasonal blooming charts. The data is used by hundreds of experts worldwide at organizations such as U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Selby Gardens, the Smithsonian Greenhouse, the Australian Orchid Foundation, Singapore Botanical Gardens , etc. More than 400 orchid judges use OrchidWiz at regular gatherings to evaluate and award orchids."

“OrchidWiz is so easy to use, anyone can do it. If you can learn how to use a computer mouse, you can learn OrchidWiz." The program runs on Microsoft Windows Vista or XP (Mac users need Parallels) and requires 2 GB of disk space. OrchidWiz is licensed to a single user but can be installed on two computers, such as a desktop and a laptop for mobility purposes. Join the thousands of users in 45 countries who use OrchidWiz Encyclopedia for their daily research needs!

I have had a copy of this software for about two years now. Diane sent me one as a gift and since then I have renewed and purchased the updates. It really is very handy.

Post your questions here and let me know if you get the software using this promotion. Good growing!

    Cheers,

Such a good deal! Nicely done Bruce! (Yeah, I succumbed to temptation and placed my order this morning. I couldn't help myself. )

This is a great database! I've been using it for several years and have always thought it was an excellent value even at full price. Your knowledge of orchids will quadruple or more.

Better yet, Alex, the guy who developed it makes major improvements with each release.

Nice job, Bruce, arranging this for the forum!

    McJulie

PS - I'm not sure if Alex is still accepting photos on CD of orchids, but he used to, in order to expand the database photo collection. He required 100 at a minimum. Might be worth checking since we have some great photographers here with some stunning orchids in their collections!

I've read a lot about OrchidWiz and am sorry I put off buying it for so long except for the cash. Your last deal with OrchidWiz, like this one, brought it down to where I can handle it without much pain. If you doubt you ever needed this program, go to OrchidWiz.com and download a working trial version. From pictures to cultivation, names to awards. genetics to geneology. If it's orchids I don't know what it doesn't do. I found the names of a dozen crosses I've been growing and never knew they had names other than the crosses. Thanks for the push.

This is quite a coup Bruce has pulled off for us. I think he deserves a huge pat on the back for arranging it.

If I didn't already have this awesome program, I'd be jumping at this great offer! There are so many useful--and fun!--features. As McJulie says, there is so much one can learn from it. Want to know how many awards Cattleytonia Why Not has won? You can find that information, along with where it was awarded and how many points it received. Want to know who registered the cross of Paphiopedilum Norito Hasegawa? That information is there. Want to know how many awards the offspring of any species or grex have received? That's there, too. Want to know how many Phals have Phalaenopsis Golden Peoker in their ancestry? Not a problem to find out with OrchidWiz. Want to know the theoretical percentages of ancestry of a particular grex? Again, you can find that, too. I better stop now or I'll be using up too much bandwidth. Before I close, though, I'd better add the disclaimer that I have no financial interest in this product.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Thanks for the nice comments and to those of you who have purchased OrchidWiz. I am so happy it helped out a few folks!

There are still five days left before the deal expires. If you are on the fence trying to decide if you should get this program or not, do what Gwills suggests above. Try it out. I bet you will love it.

    Cheers,
    BD

hmmm, maybe I should consider this software if I am ever going to try to figure out the new genus names of the cattleya alliance.
