That appears to be a 'nun orchid' or Phaius orchid. Welcome to OrchidTalk.

    Cheers,

I would say it's a Phaius tankervilleae.I wish I could grow them outside.

Nice photo! I agree - Phaius tankervilleae. I have one too about to bloom. They are terrestrial orchids and according to my Fl Orchids book, have become naturilized to extreme south FL. Mine has a WONDERFUL fragrance.

Thank you for identifying my nun orchid photo I found this orchid on the roadside near the town of Pahoa on the Big Island of Hawaii. I found another one near an intentional community called La'akea, just down the road.
    Elevation was about 800ft.

They grow well indoors if you have the space and enough light. They are one of my favorites!

Speaking of orchids on the Big Island, I was there over the holidays and saw a bunch of bamboo orchids (Arundina graminifolia) growing wild in the Volcanos National Park.
