    Default Catt Training

No, not litter box kinda stuff.... I know many have contributed some wonderful suggestions as to how to "train" catts to grow more upright and compact. And it isn't that I haven't read these articles with great interest but this gal seems to have a mind of her own (what else is new) and in doing so, got away from me!!!!! She, not only is growing horizontally, but twisted back on about not being able to find her way...WELL! Any ideas as to how I might help her get back on track? What... sit back and wait til she gets a bit longer and slowly try to re-educate her.... Gentlemen, when have any of us been able to "re-educate" anything!!!!

I found that in certain catts that you cannot really effectively train them vertically if the natural habit is horizontal leads. Most of the time you just end up with broken pseudobulbs.

If you want a non-interactive approach to training the new growths, try placing the plant inside a dark box and the bright light comes strictly from a tunnel at the top. Let nature take its course as the phototropic new lead will reach upwards.
Once the stem of the pseudobulb has hardened in the direction you want, you can slowly reintroduce the plant back to its normal growing space.

In a bright growing area where every angle gives the plant sufficient light, the plant will grow in an outward sphere since it "cant go wrong" in any direction.

Oh man, I hate when they do this!!! Mine do this too; my C. Wedding Song is putting new growths out straight to the sides, so sometimes I just turn the pot so they angle back upwards...good luck!!
