    hi there,

    my friend recently saw this orchid at a flower show, and if someone out there knows what orchid it is, please do reply and tell us. any details would be helpful.

    Maybe a Phaiocalanthe? Sorry I can't be more specific.

    I was going to suggest Calanthe, but I think Phaiocalanthe is a better ID.

    If it is indeed a Phaiocalanthe, then it is a hybrid mix of Phaius (found in Southeast Asia, some Pacific Islands and Africa) and Calanthe (found in Africa, Asia, and Australia). Both Phaius and Calanthe are terrestrial.
