    Hi Oksana,

    WELCOME to OT!!

Know what? Win, lose, or draw, there are no losers on this site. Just finding these amazing and wonderful people is a blessing unto itself.

I do think this is such a wonderful idea though, and one that we can all take part in, whether now, or in the future. I just got through repotting ten seedlings, and my plan is if they should do well enough, I would like to use them as a starting point for adding to the S.T.O.P. program, if John would have no objections.

Wow, the 2009 installment. I forgot about this one. You're so generous John! Those are some stunning plants. I think the Hawaiian Wedding Song has been on all STOP installments, and I'm glad it has since it's GORGEOUS!

WHAT A GREAT IDEA! I love this forum!

    Note to self:
Hurry up on getting worthy for a name change. I very much doubt John will send an orchid to somebody named orchid_killer. Besides, I have to learn to grow the plant so I will be able to make divisions to share instead of killing the thing!

    Exciting!

LOL What if you change your name to killer orchid? Not like a man-eating orchid but maybe like slang for stunning orchid?

There are so many amazing people on this site (and awesome pictures too!) No matter how bad the day, I can not visit this site with out a smile.

Every year this comes around I always think "What a great idea! I wish I could participate too!" It's very kind of you to start and continue to do this. This is such a nice site full of great people... I'm glad I can be a part of it.

I haven't checked in on here for quite a while....and I saw this thread and thought what a great idea for a way to share extra divisions and orchids! I will have to keep this idea in mind for the future! I love seeing the pictures of your 'chids in their growing area!

I might have to make a couple of substitutions on the S.T.O.P. block.
I was busy the past couple of weeks and left the greenhouse pretty much on auto-pilot the whole time.
When I came in to check on the plants this morning, The two Maxillaria tenuifolia divisions that I wanted to give away had 4 and 6 flowers each. I think it was too much flower production for such young divisions and it might have drained them a bit. The pseudobulbs are obviously shriveled and there are some browning of the leaf tips.
Being young divisions, I cut away all the flower buds that I saw before I left them alone so that they can focus on producing new growths. Little did I realize that the sneaky buggers produced more flowers after I culled the blooms.

On the bright side, I now figured out that you cant stop these plants from blooming even if you tried.

I will hold on to these two plants until I am sure that they have recovered - I dont want to give away dying plants

I'll find other orchids to replace these two.

John, you are not only amazingly generous to the members here, I know your orchids appreciate you too, for caring for them so lovingly.

I am looking forward to the day that I can join you and Sarah/sadie in being able to provide a few of my own divisions to the S.T.O.P project!!
