    Default Yam. Queen Adelia 'Lilani'

    Hi,
I went to a local box store yesterday to buy landscaping cloth for the foundation of my new greenhouse and while I was there, I checked out the orchids. They had some new 'bag-babys' so I browsed through them and found one whose tag read: Yam.Queen Adelia 'Lilani'. I'm not familiar with this orchid, but I wanted to try something new. I bought it then came home and searched the internet for care instructions but couldn't find any, so I would appreciate it if those of you who have had experience with it will advise me. If you know other details about the orchid that you can share, I would appreciate this info, as well.

Yam stands for Yamadara which is a Brassavola x Cattleya x Epidendrum x Laelia cross.

Box store tags can be iffy at times...the closest thing I could find picture wise to your tag was this:

I don't have any care instructions but from looking at the plant I would treat it like a cattleya.

Vicki, next time you have a tag that you can't quite figure-out, take a look at our forum's Orchid Genus Listing. It is an evolving list that give you the abreviation as well as what makes up a cross. Take a look. I linked to the page with your plants genus.

    Cheers,

I have one, just repotted it because it hated the nice basket I put it in. It's now in a nice clay pot...pray for it!

How weird that this thread came back up just when I ordered the 'Kiilani' I showed the pic of. It should be here this week....Woot!

I hope it blooms for me! That color really is nice.

    Hi,

Its really a nice list, but for new people like us it would help if the list is like with photo of each of the orchid types....Thanks
