your vanda spike doing? I have another Vanda Mokara getting in bloom, I will post soon
when I got the time. I need to get more orchids since my garden is almost out of blooms
good thing my nepenthes are giving me good pitchers so that makes up for it.

Ay! Mali pala! Si Raul kasi... He called you Raymond!
Hi Randy! As Bruce would say... Cheers!

My vanda spike is doing amazing so far. I thought it was a red one, but it's looking like it's actually a yellow (darned bbs mixing up the tags!).

Guess what. My friend just mailed me a S. Alata! It's a gift for my 5-year-old kid who is my orchid-partner. He's been watering my vanda daily (hmm... maybe that's why my chids are thriving??? It's actually not me but my kid?). Now he's got a pitcher that is all his and not "mommy's". And he's just happy to drop love-bugs in it!

    Ok lang po maam.

Good to hear that you're spike is doing well, I have another Vanda Mokara Noid that has
also bloomed, I will post pic later in the week, its been raining crazy lately.

And talk about starting your kid young. That's good, at least you have someone to
share the joys of it. And now he's got a Sarr. Alata you said? I bet he's happy feeding
them insects hehe. the wife's nephew and niece love feeding my Nepenthes up to
the point of overfeeding the pitchers.

I'd love to give you a Nep. Alata for your kid if possible, but with all the permits etc. thats a lot of work.

I think this is an old cross named Vanda TMA which used to be popular in the late 70's and is still ppopular among a lot of beginning orchid growers. These sell so cheap in orchid nurseries. I think Orchid Killer mentioned that here. It is a V. sanderiana X JVB hybrid and is named T.M.A. which I remember stands for "Thailand's Merit Award".

I used to have a lot of these in my garden in my old ancestral home and which I personally used for cut-flowers. Then one unfortunate evening when some orchid thieves climbed up our fence one early dawn (the 70's and early 80's orchid growing was a fad among the wealthy and lot of thieves spying around) and cut-off (stole) all my plants. Since then I stopped for a while and laid low on the orchid growing thing and concentrated on my career. Until my family decided to sell off our place and I moved to my townhouse with so little space that I begun growing orchids again.

You know it rained everyday for 10 days the past weeks here in Jacksonville, FL as well. That must have a lot to do with why my vanda spiked! I think they really love that rain!

Jojo, that's so sad about your orchids getting stolen! Yeah, my mom started her collection in the late 70's. It was a fad then like you said and her very first vandas were JVBs and TMAs and the walingwaling.

I can't wait to see y'alls vanda spike pictures!
