    personally, I find it all quite amusing. I do feel sorry for those who went through the trouble of changing their tags and database with the last move. I knew that reclassification would not hold. Still not sure if this one will either but we shall see.

    I think I am happy most of my orchids are NOIDS with just a few named ones. I have Phals, Dens, Onc, Cyms, Vandas but the rest of the name is NOID. However I do give them names for my own records, you wouldn't own a Siamese cat and call it Siamese cat, now would you. No way could I keep up with the name changes, it makes my head spin just reading about it.

    I'm sort of torn. I do like to keep abreast of the latest nomenclature, but some of these are just, well, stupid! I agree with Ron that no *way* do purpurata and some of these other Laelias really belong in Sophronitis. And Sadie is absolutely right--if Doritis is gone, then so should Doritaenopsis be! So on one hand they are coming up with long clunky names to accommodate the "new" Genera involved in a grex's ancestry, but on the other, they are retaining one that no longer has legitimacy.

    <shakes head>

    Good discussion, though! I think some excellent points were raised.
